I've been looking at wood carving for a while I was always fascinated by the creations you can do so picked up a spoon block a carving knife and a leather paddle for sharpening my knives. I was all excited when my items arrived and looking forward to making my first spoon to use in the kitchen.
I'm going to start talking about the leather sharpening paddle first this looks just like a spanking paddle, to tell the truth and could possibly be used as one, its large enough to shapen most any knife without the risk of cutting your self in my experience it worked really well and was easy to use, both sides of the paddle have a leather strip glued to it some of the sides of the leather stripping  did slightly peel up but nothing that will affect the sharpening of knives.
Second, off we will talk about the carving knife it has a great feel in the hand and is quite comfortable to hold even for long periods. The blade is not really long but makes it really easy to use and work with.
Lastly the wooden spoon block if you want to made a ladle spoon this is great but you will most likely need other carving tools to help do that the block itself is wide enough to make 22 flat stirring spoons if you cut the block in half but also big enough that if you should make a mistake there is plenty of wood to correct a mistake.
pros & cons:
I cant say that there is any for these items besides the glue peeling up on the sides of the leather strap.

This was something I have been having fun doing I'm still working on my spoon but the shape is coming along great it's a good time to pass time or to keep the hands busy. The knife I was surprised at how comfortable it was to hold. The paddle is also easy to hold while sharpening the knives this is a great start for anyone that wants to get into woodworking.
